Preparing to teach Computing & ICT
Applicants for this course ideally possess:

•    A genuine interest and expertise in computing and IT
•    A second-class degree (or higher) in computing, computer science or an IT related subject
•    The potential to complete a Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course prior to starting training
•    A minimum of three days of observation experience prior to interview and a minimum of ten days prior to starting the course

The course will explore the following issues from a subject-specific perspective:

•    Approaches to computational thinking
•    Teaching project-based learning and coursework
•    Approaches to digital literacy and e-safety
•    Teaching programming without computers
•    Lesson planning and sequences of lessons
•    Meeting the needs of all pupils in the classroom
•    Teaching and learning strategies and resources
•    Techniques to support monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting pupil progress
•    Promoting a positive climate for learning
